Second
Experts Meeting on Future Demand for Agricultural Produce
in the Nile Basin
A
second expert meeting is scheduled for 19–20 February
2007 in Entebbe, Uganda, to develop scenarios for demand
for agricultural produce in the Nile Basin for 2030.
The
event is a direct follow-up to the Cairo meeting in November
2006. Since then, the project office has developed detailed
scenario logics based on the GOVERNANCE - TRADE scenario
framework. Agricultural trade rules have been examined and
the implications for the Nile Basin of different trade regimes
have been investigated. The project office also prepared
detailed scenario logics for bio-fuels.
The
aim of the expert meeting is to validate and deepen the
scenario logics, and to test the validity of a number of
critical assumptions.
The
event is facilitated by Dr. Peter Schütte, professor
of Strategic Management at Nyenrode University, the Netherlands.
Participants include resource persons from FAO, key stakeholders,
and selected experts from the region.
